    The company is owned and operated by its key principals David Redman, Dean Murphy, Shana Levine and Ralph Moser, each with varying and differing tastes. This dynamic ensures that the Company develops a wide variety of projects with the ability to cross over into a broad range of traditional and multimedia platforms.   • Dean Murphy - Producer

    Dean is a writer, producer and director. Dean wrote, produced and directed his first feature Just Cruising at the age of 16 and followed this with a sitcom pilot for Australia's Nine Network. In 1992 Dean wrote, produced and directed his second feature, Lex and Rory before moving to the US to write and develop projects with producer George Folsey Jr (Trading Places, Coming to America). Dean returned to Australia in 1997 to direct his third feature, Muggers and became a founding member of Instinct Entertainment, producing various feature films including Till Human Voices Wake Us' starring Guy Pearce and Helena Bonham Carter, Torn starring Costas Mandylor, the feature documentary Salute and the animated feature Little Johnny the Movie.

    In 2004, Dean co-wrote and directed the highly successful Strange Bedfellows, starring Paul Hogan and Michael Caton and more recently co-wrote and directed the hit Charlie & Boots. Dean has also produced short films and prime time TV specials.



  • Spencer McLaren - Producer

    Spencer's career began as an actor and singer working extensively in Music Theatre, TV, Theatre and even radio. He is a NIDA graduate with notable work including DR WHO, The Secret Life of Us, City Homicide, Green Wing (UK) Footloose (best Actor nomination), Beauty and the Beast, and Take Flight.

    As a producer Spencer has created new productions of Sunday in the Park with George, and Fully Committed as well as creating many live events including the Pantry Cooking Show, Kitty Kan Tap and a series of concerts throughout the UK.

    His film credits include the award winning Out of Order, a documenatary Reunited: West Side Story & Les Mis, and the award winning feature film Surviving Georgia starring Pia Miranda, Holly Valance and Shane Jacobson.



  • David Redman

  • David Redman is one of the founders of Melbourne based media group Instinct Entertainment.

    In addition to his producing credits at Instinct including Little Johnny the Movie, Charlie & Boots, Salute, Torn, Strange Bedfellows, Till Human Voices Wake Us and Muggers. David also line produced the Bollywood hit, Singh is Kinng, produced the Village Roadshow distributed Take Away, and the Hoyts/Nine distributed You and Your Stupid Mate.

    Prior to this David worked as an associate producer on three films based out of the UK. The Oscar nominated, UK-French-Macedonian co-production Before the Rain; The UK German co-production The Young Poisoners Handbook and the UK-Canadian co-production Sweet Angel Mine. David also produced the short film Hand of Fate and the feature Funny Man. David previously ran the UK based sales, distribution and exhibition company, Recording Releasing, a joint venture between Island Records founder Chris Blackwell (The Last Emperor) and producer Jeremy Thomas (Island Records).



  • Shana Levine

  • Shana joined Instinct Entertainment as one of its directors and Business Affairs Manager in 1999 and has produced feature films including Charlie & Boots, Till Human Voices Wake Us, Torn and Strange Bedfellows. She is actively involved in the development of a number of film and television projects.

    Before joining Instinct, Shana practiced at a Melbourne based law firm, as an associate, specialising in entertainment law. In this capacity, Shana was invited as a guest speaker for a variety of industry events and courses and represented many of Australia's leading independent film and television producers, directors, distributors and financiers in a wide variety of projects. Shana holds Bachelor of Economics and Bachelor of Law degrees from Monash University in Victoria, Australia and is currently a qualified corporate lawyer.

    In addition, she has completed a number of courses including at AFTRS to further develop her creative skills including video production, directing for the screen and investigating performance with the Mike Leigh Method and became a qualified NLP practitioner in 2007.

    While still at University, Shana was awarded a one-year scholarship to U.C.L.A, where she studied Entertainment Law and Management of the Hollywood Studio System with Peter Guber (then head of Columbia/Tri Star). She also interned in the publicity department of the 24 hour entertainment channel, E! Entertainment Television.
